After living in Austin for nearly 10 months, I finally made it to some of the food trailers. While my parents were in town, we went down to South Congress one day to check out food at one of the food truck parks. There were several different trucks to choose from, but my stomach always wants sandwiches so we opted for Short Bus Subs. It was a really clever idea-a short school bus with menu items relating to school. I selected the Teacher's Pet, which included turkey, cream cheese, bacon, onions, lettuce, tomato, and salsa. It was so yummy and warm. We sat outside under the numerous picnic tables with umbrellas. After lunch, we walked down to Amy's for some delicious ice cream and then headed to Lance Armstrong's bike shop, Mellow Johnny's, for my bike loving parents. It was a fun day and experience and I definitely will be back to the food trucks to try more great treats.
