I Went to San Antonio on a Friday
My parents came to visit us about 2 weeks ago and I am finally getting the chance to blog about our adventures. We left Friday the 13th (yay for no mishaps!) after dropping Cecil off at camp and stopping for some Chik-fil-a. It took us a few hours to get there, with the worst part being Austin traffic. We drove straight to the hotel to drop off our car and get our luggage settled in. The hotel was really cute, new, and very environmentally friendly. After getting settled, we headed to the Alamo and Riverwalk area for some entertainment. The Alamo was just a short walk from our hotel and it was pretty interesting. It was neat to see that something that old was still standing and in relatively good shape. (Note, we visited on Friday. On Saturday night, there was an incident with a guy peeing on the Alamo, but we weren't there so we missed out on that fun.) From the Alamo, we headed down to the Riverwalk. The Riverwalk is shops, restaurants, and bars surrounding either side of the river. It was a busy area with a little bit of everything. There were so many places to choose from, but eventually we settled on the County Line. We ordered some Jack Cheese Balls and delicious BBQ. We opted to sit outside and we chose the right table. The people next to us were "graced" several times by gifts from birds. After dinner, we walked some more and took a boat tour of the river. It was nice to get to see the whole area along with history and facts about the river area. A day isn't complete without ice cream, so we headed to Justin's ice cream for scoops. I had the mint chip, which was very cool and refreshing. Mike and I noticed there was a candy place nearby and picked up a dark chocolate peanut butter cup and some peanut butter explosion fudge for a midnight snack. By this point we were pretty tired and had to get up early to head to Sea World in the morning, so we headed back to bed.
