Burgers and Brews

On Wednesday, we didn't have dinner plans and hadn't visited one of our favorite breweries lately, so we headed over to Whitestone Brewery for dinner and a few beers.  That night Whitestone was serving 2 new beers, Oatmeal Stout on Nitro, which was delicious and Smoak on the Blacklands, a smoky strong ale, which tasted like smoked meat to me.  In additon, the featured visiting food was from Ron's Hamburguesas.  We had heard that it was good and every time it was the featured food, we seemed to have something else going on.  Ron had a very simplistic set up with just a grilling station set up on the porch, as opposed to a truck.  It was also a great deal getting a decent sized burger and chips for $6.  We paid at the bar and took our tickets to pick up our burgers.  He cooked to order, so I dropped off my tickets and he told me to come back in 5 minutes to get them.  In 5 minutes, they were ready to go. I didn't see exactly what he put on the burgers, so I was excited to see what made these different.  They definitely had a southwest twist, with either pico or salsa being one of the toppings.  The burgers were delicious and we were thrilled that we made it up there to try them.  As the burgers had a bit of a kick, the creamy Oatmeal Stout was a perfect pairing with the burgers.  We left full and happy.  We will definitely try to head back next time Ron is the featured food choice.
